It's that time again. Time to go back to my Transformers Prime Season 3 predication and guesses and see which ones I got right and which ones I was waaaaaaaaaaay off the mark on. Let's kick it!

:star:Original predication is in bold and quoted. The actual results are in just plain text. Oh, and SPOILERS!

"1. Everyone will get new looks: This one may be a given. There's a recent advertisement of Bumblebee sporting more black and there's a picture somewhere of Optimus Prime with what appears to be new armor (which makes his head look comically small in proportion to his body). I'm guessing everyone else will get a new look. Most of them may be a couple of armor pieces here and there or some new paint job. None of them will be close to their Beast Hunter toy forms. At least I hope not because a lot of them look fugly. Also, all those spikes and extra details may be too much effort to add to an already expensive CGI show, especially since it's on its last season."

Yes, I got this one. Bee and Optimus was an easy one because as I stated above, Hasbro revealed clips and images of the two getting new looks. However, they didn't show off Smokescreen's blue and yellow color scheme until just before the episode where he sports it airs, so hey, another win!

I also predicted that they wouldn't get the Beast Hunter looks like their toy counterparts. This one I thought was pretty easy to figure out: the way those toys are designed, they look much more time consuming than the animators likely had, not to mention it would look ridiculously cumbersome. Try animating Wheeljack to look like his BH toy counterpart; it'd be awkward and awful as fuck. Plus, the majority of the BH toys are fugly-colored redecos anyway, so even if they wanted to do that, they dodged a bullet.

"2. Smokescreen will be the new Prime: A recent trailer for Season Three has Optimus hinting that a new Prime may be needed to succeed him. My guess is that Smokescreen will fulfill that role by end. Season Two built up a plot arc where he wanted to be like Optimus (before said arc plummeted like an plane crash), so I think it makes appropriate sense Season 3 will continue it. And just to humor whatever optimism I have, Smokescreen will finally mature so he'll actually be worthy of the damn title. ...Stockholm Syndrome."

Nope. The show hinted it and though Smokescreen ever so slightly matured, he's not a Prime. The plot just...stopped. Whether the movie will pick it up or not, I don't know.

"3. Characters will die: This time the Autobots will die FOR REALZ. It's the last season, there's no excuse to have causalities that isn't a bazillion Vehicon or the Decepticons. My guesses? Optimus Prime, especially if Prediction #2 happens. I think Arcee will be kept alive to again avoid potentially killing off the only female Autobot in the show. For that matter, Ratchet will live. I see either Bulkhead or Wheeljack buying the farm, probably in some big shot battle spectacular or an awesome heroic sacrifice.

On the Con side? Well if he doesn't die, I presume Megatron will at least been imprisoned. I can see Knock Out biting it actually, but I am banking on Starscream. Starscreams almost always dies and I don't see him living by the end of the series."

Well, on a technicality, Bumblebee DID die, he was just resurrected like Jesus Prime always does. And hell, technically, Optimus died, too. He, too was just brought back. Every other Autobot survived and I guessed Ratchet will live.

Predictably, the Decepticon side ends up more deader than the Autobots because the show has no concept of consequences for our heroes. The big one is Megatron (who did not get thrown in jail as I assumed he'd be) and it'll be a guess if the movie will bring him back 100% alive or an undead controlled by Unicron. Megatron also stated "half the Vehicons" are gone by "Thirst", but I took that about as serious as I do a limp biscuit; nothing changed, the Vehicons are still cannon fodder from start to finish. The Insecticons on the other hand are pretty damn clear fated to go this way now that Airachnid is their Vampire Queen. Oh, and Corpsedown/Silas finally bites it for realz. Technically, Airachnid is "dead" on virtue of being an undead vamp. So...yeah, that's a lot of deaths on the Con sides. OH I CAN HARDLY CONTAIN MY SURPRISE. On the plus side, neither Starscream or Knock Out died.

"4. Humans will know of the Cybertronian's existence: Again, the recent trailer shows Jasper, Nevada completely fucked up due to Megatron's fortress. And I can presume he's, I don't know, shooting beams from his tower Kefka-style. Either way, the humans know and shit is about to change."

PWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Oh, Transformers Prime, you so silly. Don't you stupid humans know a meteor shower took down Jasper? Nevermind the GIANT alien tower, no one in Jasper  - all of whom, as Fowler clearly stated left town safely - witnessed it. Nope, all meteor showers. No tower there. No aliens. Nope Nopenopenopenooooope. Denial is a huge river here, folks, move along.

"5. The Autobots will be separated for a while: As in they won't all reunited after like 2-3 episodes. I'm hoping because it'll provide a perfect excuse for character spotlights. However, this season only has thirteen episodes and I don't know how much faith I have that they can manage such with a lower episode count."

They reunited three episodes later. Four once Optimus and Special Snowflake returns, so it's at least one more episode than I expected. Honestly, this one I'm not annoyed over because they handled this pretty damn well.

"6. Agent Fowler may die: Epic sacrifice that buys the Autobots time to kill the Decepticons. It'd be noble and awesome."

Nope.

"7. Jack will finally get Sierra:She's not remotely an interesting character or relevant, but Jack's developed a lot and is likely going to go through some serious shit, I think he deserves the girl!"

Nope.

"8. For that matter, the kids' life will officially be turned upside down: The trailer seem to hint that neither of the three kids will have a normal life again. I don't think they'll undergo radical changes, but it will affect them."

Well, they're in hiding and don't go to school, but that's about it. Nothing changes dramatically for them, they all still act the same.

"9. June will do something: Jasper, Nevada is going to need a lot of medical attention..."

She did! "Plus One" was her only major episode after "Crisscross" and she mostly did pretty damn good. Her excuse to retrieve the Predacon fossil in place of her son was rather immature, but she was in top form the reminder of the episode. Too bad the romance was forced and I like June/Fowler.

"10. Airachid will be revealed to be alive and have one final showdown with Arcee: Remember, no one is dead if there's no visible body or blatantly implied like they did with Silas in "The Human Factor."

Oh, she had a showdown, but with Soundwave who totally pwned her by shipping her off to a dead moon. It was badass, even if the ground bridge trick was getting old by that point. Good riddance, she and the Insecticons haven't been prevalent since "Armada" (despite my predication above with Arcee, I didn't really want the two to tango because Arcee's character arc concluded and there would be nothing more to do with those two) and anything after "Hurt" respectfully. Really, it's pretty clear the only reason Megatron kept Airachnid alive was so the writers can cheaply write the Insecticons and her off the main story.

"11. They will deal with the damn synthetic Energon plot from "Stronger, Faster": I think the writers confirmed this."

And it comes back in a BIG way. Holy shit, does it ever.

"12. Soundwave will finally speak: However he will only speak in his final appearance and it'll be something poignant and/or significant. It won't be long, maybe a few sentences. I'm thinking a scene similiar to what Longshot pulled in Avatar: The Last Airbender except not as well-written."

He does not speak as his final words, but he does talk. "Minus One" had him spout his infamous catchphrase (you know the one) and while ultimately lacking any poignancy, it is still badass. Have I mentioned how much I think Soundwave is fucking badass? Because he is.

"13. More Knock Out and Starscream bitching at each other: Pretty please please please pleaaaaaaaaase".

OH MY GOD YES THEY DID BICKER HERE AND THERE IN SEASON 3 BUT THEN THEY HAD THEIR OWN EPISODE TOGETHER AND IT FUELED MY SHIPPING HEART AND THEY ARE MY OTP AND OH MY CHRIST ON A BLOODY CRACKER "THIRST" IS THE BEST EPISODE EVER AND NO ONE CAN TELL ME OTHERWISE.

"14. Also more Wheeljack and Ratchet interaction: I ship these two, but canonically that's not going to happen. I just want the two to interact more in the third season. PLEASE PLEASE PLEAAAASE?"</b>

Unfortunately, this did not happen. Wheeljack spent more time angsting over Ultra Magnus (in a particularly annoying derailment of his character development) instead of cooing over Ratchet. Well, I got Starscream and Knock Out, so it's not a total loss. Really, I was stretching it with this one.

"15. Predaking may be the first Predacon to be introduced, but he is also the last one to be defeated: He'll arrive the first time, pound the shit out of the Autobots, but will be alive at the end and be a leader to future Predacons (hey, the dude has "King" in his title). Thus he'll be the last one to be defeated."

Well...this could still happen in the movie, but the synopsis for the film reads he'll team up with the Autobots because Unicron Megatron will be a greater threat, so I'm actually now leaning more towards the theory that Predaking and his Predacons will be allies (possibly not actual teammates) to Team Prime by the end.

That said, in Season 3 alone, he IS the first Predacon introduced and...the only Predacon that stuck around while his clone siblings were stuck in tubes before Megatron (and Wheeljack's grenade) burninated them all. Given the creators were told to do Beast Hunters because Hasbro wanted to do the toyline, I don't think they had time to make more Predacons. The movie trailer showed two, so there's that.

"16. Alternately, Predaking will not be the last to be defeated: There will be someone stronger as a huge surprise near the end of the series. Megatron/Predacon COMBINE!!!!!! More ugly colors to be had! XD"

Heh heh heh, no.

"17. At the end, the Autobots will have defeated the Decepticons: WHOOOOoooooooooooooA! I TOTALLY WOULD NOT SEE THAT COMING! IMAGINE! THE GOOD GUYS BEAT THE BAD GUYS! GASP! SHOCK!"

What do you think?

"18. The story and character arc will have tighter pacing and actually dish out consequences (for the Autobots):= The writer promised this. Is that a challenge? I accept. Take away my skepticism and make me a true believer. Ya got thirteen episodes."

Well, Season Three DID have a tighter pacing and generally had a better flow of story and characters (sans Wheeljack's bullshit) than whatever nonsensical ass-fuckery Season Two did. Consequences for the Autobots? Pfft, no. But overall, Season Three was a MUCH needed improvement over Season Two.

"And a couple Rescue Bots prediction: We'll have new Rescue Bots. My guess are the two new RB characters that came into the toyline a while ago: Medix and Hoist. Oh, and I'm still theorizing that Charlie Burns' (possibly late) wife is an EMT. Oh, and more crossovers with the Prime cast. Optimus and Bee are a given, but I still kinda hope for the others to appear."

To be continued...because Rescue Bots isn't airing until Winter. But a recent interview stated Medix and Hoist will NOT be appearing because the writers couldn't find a way to fit them into the story. They also mentioned something about Charlie Burn's wife and I can't remember, but it sounded like she won't be in Season Two. Otherwise, *shrugs* Wait till Winter. ...God, that's so far away, I need Rescue Bots now.

So I got more wrong than right, but as usual, like a bloody cycle, it's because I expected more from the show than it could deliver. Ahh well. Next up, Season Three Best and Worst Derp Awards!

Well, it sounded like the kids will be staying with Unit E (heh) as interns or something until they become of legal age and can officially join, although I don't know how that would work with Miko, who is not actually an American.
