This journal is merely to serve as an archive to the many shit I review/analysis/rant about. Nothing more. So any one who likes reading my shit, but can't bother to scroll through the journal links, they're all here. Some of these links go to the same page because I sometimes do multiple reviews under one entry.

I will put this specific journal link at the bottom of future journals. Also included are my Toonzone reviews, Tumblr ramblings, and any other outside stuff I've done beyond DA. Please tell me if any of the links aren't working for whatever reason.

It must be. XD

Also  I hope you don't mind but I really love your reviews and I feel like you pay a lot of attention to the important stuff like character development and growth and I was wondering if one of these days I could show you some stuff I'm working on, because I want to make sure that the important characters do have decent arcs and growth and development in my existing plans, and if I don't maybe there's something I can fix.   I hope I wouldn't bother you.  I just want to make sure that I get out everything that's in my head.
neoyi Featured By Owner Jul 29, 2014  Hobbyist Traditional Artist
Thanks for the comments. I'm not sure if I have time to check other people's work, but I guess I can do bits and snips of certain things you need the most help with. Can't guarantee I'll be of much help (just cuz' I point 'em out doesn't mean I'm an expert), but I'll do my best.
JaybieJarrett Featured By Owner Aug 1, 2014  Hobbyist Writer
Thanks.  Sorry for asking so much.  I'm writing up a thing that basically goes over the major character stuff for a few important characters and a bit about the setting  which I'll link when I'm finished.  My internet has been flickering this week because we live in a neighborhood still under construction.

Thank you so much again.

Hey, I really love your Rescue Bots reviews. But I think I'm might need to read them again once I watch all the episodes. (I ordered the season 1 dvds. Can't wait went season 2 dvds are released.)
neoyi Featured By Owner Apr 9, 2014  Hobbyist Traditional Artist
I wish the Rescue Bots DVD came in a season pack than individual DVD hosting 5 episodes, but I get the show is for a younger mindset and kids that age won't care as much. That said, I'm glad Netflix currently carries Season One that I don't need to go DVD shopping just yet.

I wonder if Hasbro knows that young adults are watching Rescue Bots.

It is mind-boggling, the amount of Transformers and other stuff you are familiar with. I thought I was obsessed. Do you do these reviews professionally or is it just for fun?
neoyi Featured By Owner May 2, 2013  Hobbyist Traditional Artist
The only reviews that I do professionally are the ones in Toonzone. Anything in my personal journals (like DA, tumblr, etc.) are for fun.

From the "Ranx" review: "I know a lot of people want Aya dead..."
Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha, you've obviously never explored the GLTAS Tumblr community.
neoyi Featured By Owner Mar 11, 2013  Hobbyist Traditional Artist
The review is actually a response to the message board I dwell where a lot of people want her dead because they find her irredeemable (keep in mind all of these reviews from World's Finest comes from said message board). I'm fully aware of the fanbase's majority opinion and though I do think Aya has a LONG way to go to redeem if she Hal's team saves her, I am more leaning towards her living instead of being killed because goddamn it, I fangirl her and Razer (also unfortunate implication killing off the major female protagonist).
phantomsinger Featured By Owner Mar 12, 2013
Join the club, honey, join the very extensive Razaya club :). Personally, I've been fanbasing with the Tumblr community, and everyone on there, including me, loves Aya to pieces. The idea that people want Aya to die for her actions just seemed so horrible and ridiculous to me that it was worth laughing over. Aya does need to pay for her actions and suffer the consequences, yes, but not with her death. It's not going to be an easy fix, but I don't think that she has to die to make everything right.
neoyi Featured By Owner Mar 12, 2013  Hobbyist Traditional Artist
Honestly, I think this will be a sad issue we'll never get to see now that the show is cancelled. I can easily see Aya's redemption arc has a big thing in Season Two. Sadly, it is not meant to be. (Although I admit a part of me is still appealing to the idea of Razer killing her to save billions in that tragic sense, but the one thing I didn't mention in the review is the possibly unfortunate implication of killing the major female lead - not to mention redundancy since she had a near death earlier).
phantomsinger Featured By Owner Mar 14, 2013
I would say I hope (or don't hope) that any of those things come to pass...but I learned long ago not to theorize about this show, because 90% of the time you'll be wrong. And yeah, there would be serious issues killing off a female lead, especially one who is as popular as Aya is.
agi-nekonin Featured By Owner Feb 5, 2013  Hobbyist General Artist
What do you believe are the worst episodes ever of My Little Pony? I'm working on a review on a list I came up with, but I'd like some pointers.
neoyi Featured By Owner Feb 5, 2013  Hobbyist Traditional Artist
Two come to mind, both with questionable morals and both unfortunately producing a very annoying Pinkie Pie:

"Luna Eclipsed" because the moral ends with Pinkie Pie - the main causer of people panicking over Luna who, mind you, has undergone so much in her 1,000 year imprisonment that she is doing her damnest to make amends - claiming all her "scared" moments from Luna was just an act because it's Halloween (or whatever the pony equivalent is). This is annoying and quite frankly, rude. Luna's suffered a great deal and has caused a many of said suffering, so to have this pink jerk ruin it all in the name of fun and have the entire episode embrace it is a terrible message to send.

Also, why are the other Mane Six except Twilight Princess scared of Luna? I get apprehension, but it's such a cheap tactic to use to only get Twilight to stick up to Luna when the rest saw her redemption in the first two episodes.

The other episode is "A Friend in Deed." So, the moral is "keep bothering an introvert unless he becomes your friend?" The moral is, "Do not respect their decision to be alone; everybody should have friends?" No. FUCK THAT. If someone wants to be alone, that is their choice and I hate that the plot had to invalidate that and work out a scenario for the cranky donkey to open up to Pinkie Pie.

This is sadly one of the cases where it's inevitable. The subtitle for MLP is "Friendship is Magic"; it's the overall theme of the show. When they deal with an episode like this, they are going to produce something idealistic to promote the idea. Usually the show is very good about this, but slapping it on someone who willingly chose to be alone doesn't work because it means the show has to force that idealism instead of the much more reality-bounded cynical/bittersweet that the cranky guy really is. It's unfortunate implication and for an introvert like me who would be absolutely annoyed and offended to have someone constantly asking me to be her friend when I don't want to makes this episode a no-winner to me.
agi-nekonin Featured By Owner Feb 5, 2013  Hobbyist General Artist
So far, my list also includes "A Friend in Deed", but I also include "Ponyville Confidential" (cause it's a plot that gets old and the character reactions are terrible), "It's About Time" (there needs to be a better story involving Twilight than this), "May the Best Pet Win" (Rainbow Dash's shallow attitude kills it for me, but I get some respect for her in "Wonderbolt Academy"), and "The Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 6000" (Dear Princess Celestia: I didn't learn anything!)
neoyi Featured By Owner Feb 5, 2013  Hobbyist Traditional Artist
I like "It's About Time" because it's a clever use of Future Twilight and how her disaster is not only brought by herself trying to fix it, but not as alarmingly awful as she originally thought when she met her future self (who looked like she popped out of a bad future). I love that twist.

Why am I the only one who liked the "I didn't learn anything!" Yes, the series relies on morals, but it proves a rare genre savvy moment from Applejack that proves she doesn't take her friendship for granted. She knows they will help her and even reflects it on the letter (you can argue she's repeating a moral that's thematic to the show). I love that little subversion and while it's detriment to how MLP does things, it was a neat little twist.
agi-nekonin Featured By Owner Feb 5, 2013  Hobbyist General Artist
The only thing that annoyed me about "It's About Time" was Twilight's OCD and how she tried to repeat history at the end of the episode. Other than that, it's doesn't bother me as much as episodes like "A Friend in Deed". I'm also not a fan of Spike-centered episodes, especially "Just for Sidekicks", which addressed his selfish behavior and failure to take responsibility.

A couple of (positive) things:
1.) I am so, so, so, so, SO glad that you brought up the "shut down" line. In my opinion, that's one of the most well-crafted parts of the episode. If Razer had said literally anything else--ignore, block out, etc.--she wouldn't have been able to understand it. But the fact that he specifically used the words "shut down" means that she related to it, understood it, and took it literally. Absolutely brilliant.
2.) If you think about it, they've been foreshadowing this outcome for a while. The entire exchange in "Blue Hope," for one, and then when the Science Director pointed out that she wanted to take her apart because she was too unpredictable. Just saying.
Anyway, I like the review!

Whoa, that is a lot.

Oh yeah, they've finally announced TFP Episode 42, "Hurt", to be aired on August 24. I just don't know what time, since now they're airing two movies every Saturday night on the Hub...

Dear Lord, how long did this take you? But feels good to be organized, doesn't it? ^^

A couple of hours, give or take (with distractions and all XD). But yeah, it does feel nice. I don't have every single one added, but that's because anything in 2008 and below are super old.
